I have never done a duathlon before, can I take part?
Yes! The Phoenix Park Duathlons are open to all abilities and we welcome newcomers to the sport. As long as you can run and cycle a bike you are welcome.
Where is transition?
Transition is located at the North West corner of the 15 Acres playing pitches area of the park. See the Course Map here. Transition will be neutralised, racking of bikes is unassigned. Bicycles must be roadworthy and will be checked as they enter transition. Helmets are compulsory. No bags are to be left in transition. There is a bag drop tent available.
Where will I leave my bag?
We will have a bag drop in the start/finish village. No bags are to be left in transition
When do I register?
Online registration up to Wednesday April 22nd for the April race and up to Monday May 18th for the May race. Late registration on the race day will be available, if the raced are not sold out.
You will receive a race number (to be pinned to your trisuit/jersey), a bike sticker (to go on the bike frame), a timing chip (to go on your left ankle) and a goodie bag. If you have a tri belt, please ensure it’s front facing on the run and rear facing on the bike.
Your wave allocation (1, 2 or 3) will also be confirmed & visible on printed boards. Online pre-registered competitors will be allocated to wave 1 or 2. On the day registrations will start in wave 3. Wave changes are not permitted – all times are chipped.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Adult entry fee : €25
Junior entry fee: €5
Please note that if you do not have a Triathlon Ireland racing licence you will need separate One Day Membership for each race (these cost 15 euro per race).

WHEN DO ENTRIES CLOSE?
Online entries will close at midnight on Wednesday April 22nd and Monday May 18th.
Can I wear runners or do I need bike shoes?
Either – runners on the bike are fine, given you have to change in two transitions
Do I need a helmet?
Yes a helmet is essential to race, you will not be allowed to race without one.
Do I need a Race Licence?
In order to race you will need to prove you are a member of Triathlon Ireland with a current race license or have a One Day Membership – this must be purchased before the race through triathlonireland.com.
What is the route?
All information on the course and distances is available online at the Course Description page.

What type of bike can I use?
We don’t mind – a mountain bike, commuter bike, road bike or TT bike! All we ask is that you ensure your bike is roadworthy: the handlebars are plugged with bar ends, brakes are working and you are wearing a helmet. Checks will be completed before going into transition.
Where can I park?
Parking is available at the Papal Cross car park, in the overflow car park adjacent to Dublin Zoo and along Chesterfield Avenue (the main road running up through the Park). There will be no parking on Acres Road as this is part of the race course. See the designated parking areas shown in the map below.
WHAT TIME DOES THE RACE START AT?
Registration & start times below:
- April: 7.30am registration with race start from 10am in 3 waves
- June/July: 5.30pm registration with race start from 7.30pm in 3 waves
- Junior races: 5.00pm registration with race start from 6.00pm in 3 waves
I CAN NO LONGER RACE- CAN I HAVE A REFUND? CAN I TRANSFER MY ENTRY?
Unfortunately we are not in a position to offer refunds but we will accept a transfer up until 2 days before the race (20th April, 5th June, 3rd July). You can transfer to another athlete or to another race in the series. Email email@example.com
CAN I RACE IN A RELAY TEAM?
Yes, teams of 2 can share run & bike – select Relay option when registering.

Prizes will be awarded to male & female competitors in the following categories, plus some raffle prizes on the night:

- Race series winner (over 3 races)
WHO CAN RACE IN THE JUNIOR RACES?
Check out our Junior Race page to find out all the details on the children’s races. There will be a junior race in both June and July, for 6-13 year olds with a €5 entry fee.
WHAT ARE THE DISTANCES?
Each run lap is 2.5km and each bike lap is 4km.
April: 5km run, 20km bike, 2.5km run
June & July: 2.5km run; 12km bike; 2.5km run.
